Violin Bow by Charles-Nicolas Bazin, 1890

A very nice bow by Charles-Nicolas Bazin, made around 1890 and with a certificate of authenticity by Pierre Guillaume. This is a fine and highly representative example of the work of one of Mirecourt’s most respected late 19th century makers. The stick is crafted from excellent brown pernambuco of attractive colour and quality. The head, elegantly rounded and well proportioned, is characteristic of Bazin’s style. The ebony frog, mounted in silver with classic, understated fittings, together with the matching button, forms a harmonious ensemble. The overall condition is excellent, with the bow having been carefully preserved.
