Who we are

About MyLuthier

MyLuthier began with contemporary makers. Ariel Lang and Pedro Silva founded the business while studying at the Royal Academy of Music, initially searching for instruments of exceptional quality that working musicians could realistically acquire. Contemporary making remains at the heart of what we do.

Over time, our clients increasingly asked us to advise on older instruments. Working in that market required a different kind of expertise: understanding which authorities matter for particular makers and schools, assessing provenance and documentation, and developing the condition-reporting and specialist imaging needed to examine significant instruments properly.

We remain musicians before we are dealers. Sound and playability therefore remain central to how we judge an instrument. Every instrument we handle is played and assessed by us before it is offered to a client.

Ariel Lang and Pedro Silva founded MyLuthier in 2016. The showroom is at 49 Little Britain, in the City of London, and visits are by appointment.

Our approach
Certification first
Every attribution is supported by appropriate independent expertise, with existing certificates, provenance and documentation considered as part of our assessment.
Documented condition
Every instrument is examined in detail and accompanied by a full condition report, with specialist imaging where appropriate.
Discretion by default
Enquiries and transactions are handled privately. Instruments are not publicly identified as available unless agreed, and buyer and seller details remain confidential.
Insured in our care
Instruments are fully insured while in our care, on approval and in transit worldwide. Private viewings can be arranged in London or elsewhere by agreement.
