An unattributed Italian violin from the second half of the eighteenth century, made in northern Italy. The workmanship is of a high order throughout, bold and elegant, and the varnish a golden light brown.
The sound is the reason to buy it. It is bright but complex with outstanding projection. Response is quick and the instrument takes bow weight without ever tightening. It has been played by a concertmaster, chamber musician and recitalist. A fine Italian violin, without the premium of a name.
