Daniel Engelbach is a contemporary violin maker based in Rotterdam. He divides his time between his own workshop and the W.E. Hill&Sons workshop in London, where he works in collaboration with Robert Brewer Young. A graduate of the International School of Violin Making in Cremona, Daniel’s work is deeply rooted in the traditions of the classical Italian masters, their craftsmanship and aesthetic ideals.Daniel takes a deep interest in the varnish techniques of the old masters, which led to a close research collaboration with varnish expert Pierre Flavetta. As a cellist himself, Daniel strives to explore the acoustic possibilities of each instrument through close dialogue with musicians.
Every instrument is available for trial at our beautiful central London showroom.
