Description
Maurizio Tadioli is a very accomplished violin maker from Cremona, Italy. Winner of numerous awards, he is well-known for being one of the best antiquers in Italy. His instruments all display stunning craftsmanship and finish. This one has a stunning red-brown varnish, reminiscent of the old masters. The violin has a very warm sound with a very wide range of colours. It has a luscious tone and has the most wonderful pianos. However, when it needs to project, it certainly has power, although it is a more enveloping, round sound, rather than a bright and direct sound. A delightful violin for the discerning player.

Maurizio Tadioli

Maurizio Tadioli is an accomplished Italian violin maker born in Cremona in 1967 and working from the nearby village of Cortetano. He is well known as one of the best antiquers in Italy.

He learned first from his grandfather Carlo Pizzamiglio, a self-taught luthier, then excelled at the Scuola Internazionale di Liuteria in Cremona, graduating in 1985 with top marks. His awards include the gold medal at the Bagnacavallo Concorso Giovani Liutai in 1984, a prize at the V Triennale di Cremona in 1988 and the Conti Branca special prize for a viola in 1997. A baroque instrument of his is displayed at the Cremona International Violin Making School museum. He joined the jury of the International Violin Making Competition in Pisogne in 2010, teaches at the Violin Making School of Cremona, and is an active musician in choirs and orchestras around the city.

His instruments are played by professional musicians in Italy and abroad.

Everything Maurizio makes displays stunning craftsmanship and finish, and the antiquing is the best argument for his reputation. The violin we had carried a red-brown varnish genuinely reminiscent of the old masters. The sound is very warm with a wide range of colours and a luscious tone, and the pianos are the most wonderful we have heard on a contemporary instrument. When it needs to project it certainly can, though the sound is enveloping and round rather than bright and direct. A delightful violin for a discerning player.
