Wolfgang Schiele established his workshop in Munich, Germany, in 1990. After his initial training at the violinmaking school in Mittenwald, he spend several years at Bodart & Dariel in Besançon, at J. Dariel in Paris, at P.&W. Moes in New York and P. Biddulph in London.
Today, the focus of his work is on building new instruments, that meet the highest demands of professional musicians in terms of both sound quality and aesthetic perception. The sound of his instruments is focused and powerful yet balanced with a rich and colorful timbre.
We met Wolfgang Schiele in Cremona earlier this year and were very impressed by the sound and response of his cellos. This particular instrument form 2019, has fantastic brilliance and resonance that feels very satisfying to the player. The cello is very even, with the whole instrument behaving as a single string across the range. A must try!
View InstrumentMaster violin maker Wolfgang Schiele makes beautiful instruments from his workshop in Munich. This 2023 violin is one of his latest creations and we're delighted to have it for sale. It features a rich brown-red varnish on a stunning one-piece back! It is based on a Del Gesu model but Wolfgang has made it more personal with changes to the arching, etc. The sound is very bright and powerful with an immediate and focused response. It projects with ease and will resonate nicely, even in a larger hall.
