Description
A very beautiful baroque violin, made by violin maker Mark Jennings. It is exquisitely crafted by the maker and is a real beauty to look at. The sound is remarkably balanced throughout all registers. It is resonant and deep from the lowest notes on the G string all the way up the E string and in addition, is very easy to play.

Mark Jennings

Mark has been a professional maker for 27 years.  He studied at Merton College and at the Newark School of Violin Making, graduating from both with Distinctions.  Throughout his working life Mark has followed his philosophy of continuous improvement, spending several Septembers studying at Liuteria Parmense in Italy at their annual masterclass.

His work is based on the 17th and 18th century Cremonese traditions of Amati, Stradivari and Guarneri.  The study and analysis of these great Master's work has led Mark into producing a quality of instrument that is played by both soloists and orchestral musicians at home and abroad

Mark also regularly teaches player-based courses at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, the Royal Northern College of Music and also at the International Musicians Seminar at Prussia Cove.

Throughout the making process sound is paramount, working towards an excellent sonorous character, giving ease of response and an evenness of tone. Timber is chosen carefully for both its acoustic and physical properties, each piece of wood is worked to achieve these sound requirements. The model, the arching, the set-up, even the varnish all influence the final result.
