Marc Paquin discovered in 2000 his passion for violin making. He had the great chance to learn in Switzerland with Philippe Girardin and Sylvain Rusticoni, winners of gold medals in Cremona and in the United-States. He also followed restoration courses with Jean-Jacques Fasnacht.
Since 2006 Marc Paquin has been investigating on his own about sound, power, timbre and playability of string instruments. They are nowadays being played all around the world by professionals and international soloists, such as Sergey Malov, Leticia Moreno, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, Tatiana Samouil, Sungsic Yang,… in Spain, England, Switzerland, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Austria, USA, Canada, Korea, China, Australia,…

An incredible sounding Guarneri model by Marc Paquin. Being a professional violinist himself, Marc has fine-tuned his making to suit players perfectly. From the quality of the setup to the emission of sound, everything in this violin is made to perform at the highest level. In comparison to the Stradivari model, this violin has a slightly edgier, brighter sound. It is extremely direct with lots of grit and power. He is a fantastic maker with huge potential and we are very pleased to be working with him! Today, his violins are played by professionals and international soloists all over the world, from Spain to Australia.

We’re delighted to offer this outstanding violin by Marc Paquin, the latest instrument in our close partnership that has spanned the last few years. This is a characterful Guarneri model that does everything it's asked to do. It is powerful yet poised; the E string is brilliant without being harsh, the middle strings have a rich, singing quality, and the G responds with clarity and weight, all combining to give a very soloistic feel to this instrument. A superb example from one of Europe’s most consistent and respected contemporary luthiers. We are very pleased to count Marc amongst one of our most popular makers with his violins having gone to excellent players in the past.

A classic Paquin violin! It is easy to see why we love him so much and so do the players who come to us. This one is inspired by the Guarneri del Gesu "Cannone" and it sounds as its name suggest. Enormous power, open sound, ease of playing and a wide range of colours - what more could one want? Every time we get new violins from Marc, he impresses me in a new way! The fact that he himself is an accomplished violinist who still performs means the playability is second to none. An absolutely stunning instrument from a very exciting maker!

From the first notes I played on this violin, I was absolutely fascinated by its sound. It has the usual qualities you would expect from a high-end violin from Marc in terms of projection, resonance, balance, etc but it has the most distinctive palette of sounds one could ask for. Perhaps this is partly from the model Marc was inspired by, the "Ole Bull" Guarneri, or a combination of the craft and sound ideals Marc was going for but it is one of the more unique violins (antique or new) I have played on in a long time. It would be hard not to fall in love with this one!

A powerful and mighty Cannone model from Marc Paquin. I loved this model last time we had it so we immediately requested another from Marc and the results do not disappoint! If anything, this violin builds on the previous iteration and adds a new dimension to the sound. It has everything one could wish for in a violin: beauty of tone, colour range, power, resonance, ease of playing, response. There is a reason Marc is one of the biggest names in violin making at the moment and we believe he will be for a very long time.

Every new violin from Marc Paquin offers interesting and slight changes on a fantastic base quality of sound. This Ole Bull model is similar to the last one we had from Marc but with some slight differences. The D string offers unmatched resonance and can hold its own next to the stunning G string. Overall, this violin has a darker timbre but with an ease of playing and response that are hard to find. Marc being a violinist himself is able to make the setup as optimal as possible and this is noticeable as soon as you play his instruments.
